Remember the scene in "Weird Science" when the guys step into the bar alongside Kelly LeBrock and everything immediately goes silent? Well, that happened here on our first visit... except we didn't have Kelly LeBrock with us.
The mostly-Hispanic clientelle stopped talking and all eyes locked on us. Heads slowly turned to follow us as we nervously made our way to the empty chairs at the far end of 
the bar. But the bartender was terrific and, within moments, made us feel welcome.
Located on the eastern edge of Kansas City's West Side, PR's Place is a popular hangout for Kansas City's hispanic population while virtually unknown among the artists and hipsters found only a block to the east. You might drive right by this place and not realize it's a bar, the exterior might make one think more of a dentist office.
PR's has an inviting, comfortable interior and one of the more eclectic jukebox catalogs we've seen. 
It's also a popular place for watching sports -- especially soccer. If you are a fan of the World Cup this is a great place to watch it. There are no beer taps, but bottles and cans are plentiful and cheap.
By the way, PR's Place is the only bar we are aware of to have had a live horse inside it, when it received a visit by the second Warpaint, former mascot of the Kansas City Chiefs.
PR's Place is located 1 block west of Broadway, between 17th & 18th Streets on Washington. It is 2/3 a block south of the Screenland Theatre.
